Nancy Wirsig McClure

In helping with your communication projects, my focus is firmly on the viewers and how to create comprehension and engagement. Whether I’m designing web sites or working on print pieces or creating logos or preparing images, I offer a combination of skills:

• “Left brained” skills of analysis, synthesis, simplification, and writing.
• “Right brained” skills of composition, color choice, typography, and application of other design principles.

My portfolios show a wide range of styles, because I always develop a look that is determined by the brief for the project.

Contributions to the Professional Community

I founded and manage an Adobe Users Group in Portland for experienced users of Photoshop and/or Illustrator.

I maintain PDXnex, a networking network a networking nexus in Portland, Oregon, for new media professionals (links to groups, conferences, calendars, and education).

I’ve presented talks on graphics and animation topics to:
• Internet Professionals NW (now part of the Software Association of Oregon),
• the Society for Technical Communicators (STC).

I have served as a board member for the Pacific NW Color Management Users Group.

I’ve volunteered at WebVisions, the annual conference in Portland. I’ve also been a volunteer assistant at Russell Brown’s annual Adobe training event (formerly ADIM, Art Directors’ Invitational Master Class) in California.

Technology Expertise

I pride myself on deep fluency in my software tools. My grasp of underlying technologies has given me a proven track record of:
• files that work right the first time (for print, web and presentations).
• successful collaborations with developers on web applications and other technical projects.
